Palóc Regions

They live in Nógrád county and in Felföld which is now in Slovakia. Their dressing varied in the different villages. When these little villages in Börzsöny, Cserhát, Mátraalja, belonged to the same parish, they shown lots of similarites. The most colorful and the most variable head-dresses were worn here. The head-dress with tail from Ludányhalászi took a liking to Sádor Petőfi so much, that he decided to buy one of his wife.
Women from Kazár screwed theuir hair to a piece of iron an then they put the different head-dress here. These head-dresses expressed different degree of solemnity by their Great Rose, silver lacy and golden lacy variations.
Very often they were more than 15 centimetres tall.
In the years of 1880 when mines were opened, people were afraid of that working in mines will have stopped the peasants traditions.
In spite of this anxiety these traditions survived, fortunately.
